Deal Seafront
Deal with its rich Seafaring history, including the smugglers, has connections to the family name of Shelvey going back hundreds of years. The drawing features the Ball Tower, all that remains of the historic naval boat construction yard that once dominated the seafront. The purpose of the time ball was to signal at 1pm to the fleet in the channel, (by dropping the ball) and aid the setting of chronometers.
